Summer Meetings
Will be held at 7 p.m on Tuesdays evenings in the Maritime Museum.
The Friends are moving to Tuesday evenings at the Maritime Museum for the summer months of May, June and July, then back to Sunday afternoons during the winter. It is hoped this will promote increased attendances.Visitors (non-members) are warmly welcome to all talks for an admission fee of £2 in addition to any entry charge to the museum.

Operational Experience with the River Lune Hydro
Tuesday 23rd May 2017 at 19:00 hrs
This talk covers the basic arrangements and interesting operational aspects since commercial operation in 2015, alongside results of fish counting and trapping for health checks on this, one of four UK Index Rivers.

Working on the Lancaster Canal

Current status with success of the Ribble Link and Kendal intentions, along with interludes of recent history and curing the two major leaks. Robert Swain author of several local interest books.

The story of sea, ships and sailors

Come along and listen to Forebitters and Verse from 2000 years of sinew, sail and steam. Discover a little of what life was and is on board a ship at sea and how Jolly Jack Tar spent his on-shore hours.
Jim Saville - having become well known for his interpretation of classical and modern sea poetry delivered in an entertaining and enlightening style.
